LAYHER STRENGTHENS MODULAR SCAFFOLDING PRODUCTION WITH ENHANCED GALVANISING FACILITY
Layher Ltd. is announcing a major step forward in its production
capability with the opening of a new hot-dip galvanising
facility at its manufacturing plant in Germany. The
move, says the company, reflects its commitment to
ongoing investment and belief in using the most
efficient and environmentally aware production processes
across its manufacturing plants.
“Hot-dip
galvanising has been a key feature of all of our steel
products for many years,” comments Layher’s UK Managing
Director Sean Pike, “because the benefits of the process
in terms of minimising corrosion risk and therefore
extending product life are well known. This latest
investment enhances this capability and will impact
directly on our market in the UK as it strengthens our
ability to meet customers’ delivery requirements –
especially when rapid response is required.”
The
new 10,000 sq. m. facility at Layher’s Eibensbach head
office has been constructed in just ten months.
Featuring state of the art technology, including a
computer-controlled galvanising oven and highly advanced
crane handling technology, some 80,000 tonnes of steel
products can now be hot-dip galvanised per year through
the multi-stage process. This means that, alongside
Layher’s existing facility, a total of 120,000 tonnes of
steel products can now be galvanised by the company
every year.
“This latest announcement reflects
our ongoing production investment commitment,” continues
Sean Pike. “This is also seeing aluminium and wood
production being transferred to a neighbouring Layher
facility in Germany which in turn is allowing the head
office site to centralise and expand the production of
steel components – of which the highly modern hot-dip
galvanising facility is now a key part.
“As a
result, we are confident that customers placing orders
either via our UK head office in Letchworth, or our
Scotland base in Livingston, will not only benefit from
highly versatile and proven modular scaffold and
protection systems but will also now gain from the most
advanced and effective processing and delivery systems
in the industry.
“At a time when so much of the
industry is cautious with its outlook, this is an
important development which we believe demonstrates
Layher’s strength, position in the market and ongoing
commitment to its customers,” he concludes.
