NEW LAYHER BRIDGING SYSTEM TAKES CENTRE STAGE IN THE EVENT/SHORING MARKET
A new addition to the range of purpose-designed temporary structures
– of particular relevance to event usage – is being
announced by Layher Ltd. The Allround® Bridging Truss
System is being introduced by the company which has a
leading reputation in Europe for the manufacture of
modular scaffolding equipment, and which also operates
via a dedicated event system division.
Ideal for
use as a footbridge or as a support girder for heavy
loads, the new system is both versatile and is fully
compatible with Layher’s
established Allround® system. It thus benefits from the
same wedge-head connection design and choice of bay
sizes – either 2.07 or 2.57 metres – to provide a choice
of walkway dimensions. Construction can be made either
in-situ or pre-assembled at ground level for craning
into position, with structures quickly and readily
assembled using simple bolt connectors.
“Because
the design of the new Allround® Bridging Truss System
follows our modular philosophy, which has underpinned
our success for many years, successful installations can
be achieved almost irrespective of terrain and
pedestrian traffic requirements,” comments Layher’s UK
Managing Director, Sean Pike. “Spans of up to 30 m can
be installed with, in all cases, high strength a key
element of the design – for example only a 5 cm
deflection is noted over a 24 m span.
“A range
of optional fittings can be specified allowing users to
reflect particular installation needs,” he adds. “These
include a choice of steel or event decking, Layher
‘Protect’ panels, child proof guard rails and temporary
roof sections to offset adverse weather conditions.”
Apart from pedestrian walkway applications, Layher
points out that the design can also be used as a clear
support girder over obstructions for scaffolding – to be
built off and upwards, podium or roof structures, whilst
even suspended scaffolding installations can be
connected. Where required, several beams can be
assembled next to each other for a further increase in
foot traffic or as a temporary work platform.
“This latest addition to our event and Allround® systems
sits alongside other proven equipment including staging,
temporary seating, shelters and podiums,” concludes Sean
Pike. “We believe it is set to build on the established
success of the Layher name in this industry and of our
dedicated event system and shoring divisions.”
