NEW MANUFACTURING PLANT AT LAYHER SIGNALS ONGOING
INVESTMENT IN 2009

Layher Ltd., Europe’s leading modular scaffolding
manufacturer and a major supplier to the UK industry, is
demonstrating its continuing commitment to product
development and business growth with the announcement of
a new manufacturing plant. The company is delighted to
report that it has now begun work on a new phase of
development at its manufacturing at Eibensbach in
southern Germany.
“This latest announcement signals the start of building
work for a manufacturing plant dedicated to the
production of aluminium and wooden components,” comments
Layher’s UK Managing Director, Sean Pike. “Located in
Güglingen close to our established, main premises in
Eibensbach, where the manufacture of the company’s steel
scaffolding takes place, it is due to begin
manufacturing in September 2009 – less than 12 months
after the ground was broken.”
The company points to excellent business development in
recent years and a commitment to providing a ‘just in
time’ facility to its customers in each of its markets –
essential, it believes, in scaffold construction. The
flexibility that this calls for will be enhanced by the
new facility which will see a complex comprising four
warehouses, three production buildings and office space
located on a 6.8 hectare site.
“The news builds upon the completion of a further phase
of development, which will see a new, highly modern hot
dip galvanising facility begin operation very soon in
2009,” continues Sean Pike. “This too is an important
investment which will enable us to retain our own
manufacturing procedures which in turn, will allow us to
maintain our commitment to product quality and
consistency.
“It is also envisaged that between 2007 and 2009 the
expansion programme will see some 150 additional jobs
created,” he adds. “At a time when so much of the
construction industry is taking a less than optimistic
view of the immediate future, we believe that this is
evidence of our belief in continued growth and
demonstrates the Layher commitment to maintaining its
position at the leading edge of this specialist market
world-wide,” concludes Sean Pike.
