INVESTMENT COMMITMENT IN 2009 BRINGS NEW BENEFITS TO SCOTLAND

The importance of investment, which has always underpinned the success enjoyed by Layher Ltd. – Europe’s ‘leading manufacturer of system scaffolding systems – is set to continue in 2009. Alongside the enhancement of the company’s manufacturing facility in Germany, the UK market is now gaining from the opening of a new depot in Livingston, Scotland, which has been brought on stream to extend the company’s successful position in the country.

The 12,000 sq. metre owned site is located close to the former Layher premises but now boasts far greater space and excellent access – reflecting, the company says, developing business opportunities in Scotland. The facility features new administrative and management offices, alongside an extensive storage yard as well as specific demonstration areas which can be varied to highlight on-going product and system developments.

“We are paying particular attention to stockholding capability to ensure that ordering and delivery times are minimised, ” comments Layher’s Regional Manager, Ian Wilson. “At the same time, the greater space available will enable us to house a wider range of products and components than ever before”.

“We believe this is an important development and one which provides greater direct access to our products and services for a marketplace which we believe has not only demonstrated recent growth, but which we are confident is set to develop further in the future”.

It is a view which is echoed by Layher’s UK Managing Director, Sean Pike –

“At a time when much of the construction industry is looking nervously towards 2009, we believe that an on-going commitment to investment of this type is an even more important requirement,” he says. “We believe that our growing number of customers in Scotland will recognise the importance of being able to obtain products and materials at very short notice which is a requirement that this enhanced facility will now help us to meet.

“This is an important step forward, and one which clearly looks way beyond business in 2009 towards on-going development well into the future,” concludes Sean Pike.
