ENHANCED STOCKHOLDING CAPABILITY BRINGS GREATER
EQUIPMENT ACCESS FOR LAYHER CUSTOMERS IN SCOTLAND
The move, which sees an enhancement of both its
stockholding capability and support services to
customers, is set to build on the success that the
organisation has achieved since first entering the UK
market in 1982.
Layher’s Scottish office in Livingston points out that
the development will strengthen the ‘next day’ delivery
capability that has been behind much of the company’s
growth north of the border in recent times.
“Although we hold a good range of equipment on site in
Livingston, we can now supplement this within 24 hours
with deliveries directly from the enhanced facility in
Letchworth,” comments Layher Scotland’s Regional Manager
Ian Wilson. “This means that potential delays which
could arise when ordering deliveries direct from the
factory in Germany, can now be virtually eliminated. We
believe this will be a major benefit to our customers
not only throughout the Scottish and north of England
region but also those in both Northern and Southern
Ireland – markets that are also handled via our Scottish
office.”
The Letchworth facility, which has acted as Head Office,
administrative centre and principal UK depot for the
company for nine years, has now gained a further 2250
sq. m. (7382 sq. ft.) of external space for storage. In
addition, the company is taking back the operation of
another building on the site – which to date has been
sublet to a third party and which offers a further 2500
sq. m. (8202 sq. ft.) of space. This will allow the
company to create, for the first time, a dedicated Head
Office based training centre and additional internal
storage which are planned to be fully operational by the
end of the year.
“The increasing use of modular system scaffolding in
general in this country has combined with the success of
both our established equipment and new products that we
have recently introduced to create ever growing customer
demand,” comments Layher UK’s Managing Director, Sean
Pike. “This pattern has been fully reflected in Scotland
where the business this years is already almost 60%
ahead of the same period in 2006.
“The move means that our commitment to ensuring that our
delivery and support capability remains second to none
throughout the UK and is now emphasised in a very
practical way,” adds Sean Pike. He also points out that,
apart from the further site development plans underway
in Hertfordshire, a strategy to enhance the facility in
Livingston is also progressing – which is set to
strengthen Layher’s presence in the area even more.
Since its arrival in this country, Layher UK can point
to a long list of installations for its modular
scaffolding, protection systems, stairtowers and
accessories. The move now is set to be welcomed by
everyone in the building, construction and specialist
access sectors in England and Scotland alike.
